Canada Live-in Caregiver Scheme Improvements Shocking for Employees, Claims Report

According to a report, Canada has made public some amendments to the popular and widely used its Live in Caregiver scheme. In the pipeline are some fresh licensing requirements and upper limits to total caregiver admissions into the Maple Leaf Country even as these would allegedly hurt the workers from abroad.

Given this, overseas caregivers together with their families have expressed their reservations against the latest provisions involving live-in caregivers. Recently, some protestors held placards and waved banners asking the government to desist from stealing Canada permanent residence (PR) from the live-in caregivers from out-of-the-country.

Landed Position to Caregivers on Entrance

Live in caregivers &their families have urged the administration to offer landed position to them on their arrival in the country even as a concerned person asserted that it is vital that foreign live-in caregivers maintain the pressure in asking for the prized and the much sought after PR. He added that it is crucial that the fight continues to give the caregivers the authority to submit an application for the PR.

Allegedly, live-in caregivers in Canada have felt somewhat aggravated with in-office Canada immigration minister. Therefore, they have urged Chris Alexander, the minister, to give foreign live-in caregivers due respect and abstain from making fake guarantees to them.

How Amendments are damaging for Live-in Caregivers?

The Maple Leaf Country has proclaimed a choice for caregivers to stay or not stay with their recruiters/job-providers. The professionals though believe that the same would not protect them from any kind of exploitation by their recruiters/job-providers with the reason being the Live-in Caregiver Permits are with their recruiters/job-providers only. Against this backdrop, their recruiters would still enjoy wider powers over them, and they would continue to be at the mercy of latter.

Latest amendments to the Live in Caregiver Plan reportedly denotes splitting the Caregiver class into High-medical Needs class and Child-care class. While there are yearly upper limits for Home Child Care providers to 2,750; successfully sailing through the CLC Level 5 is obligatory for the Caregivers to get PR in Canada.

Apart from this, High Medical Needs category has a yearly upper limit of 2,750 apart from sailing through the CLC Level 7. And an additional law necessitates obtaining professional permits either as a registered Psychiatric Nurse or as a Personal Support Worker, for the object of becoming entitled for the PR in Canada.

Ottawa also has stated that 5,500 caregivers shall be given entry permission every year, and it signifies a BIG decrease in the yearly intake. Given this, Live-in caregivers are reportedly keen to get justice from the Canadian administration for their privileges &rights.
