Decoding Express Entry System 2015!

Canada’s Express Entry System has become functional from January 1, 2015. It is an electronic program. However, Express Entry is not a program but a system through which the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) aims to select prospective immigrants through following economic programs:
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • A portion of the Provincial Nominee Programs
Applicants, who are eligible for any one of the economic programs, make an online profile and submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) stating their interest in working and staying in the country. Successful candidates are placed in an Express Entry pool. Each entry will be put against the other, and successful applicants will obtain an invitate to apply. A candidate and will have two months to apply for the Permanent Residence (PR) status.

Express Entry program welcomes candidates from different genres. Under the program, a total of 1200 points will be allotted to the applicants. Following is the point allotment process:
  • A total of 500 points will be granted for the “core human capital factors”, such as experience, language expertise, and education.
  • A total of 100 points will be granted for “skill transferability”.
  • A total of 600 points will be given to the applicants with a valid job offer.
The newly introduced immigration plan will favor younger applicants, aged between 20 and 29 will be given hundred and ten points and the applicants, aged 17 or under and 45 and above will be given no point at all.

As per some reports, the Canadian Minister of Immigration has stated that the aspirants with a valid employment offer, or who possess a provincial nomination, will be preferred first, and that it is expected that the first invitation to apply will be sent latest by the last week of January.

The program provides endless opportunities, at the same time; it follows strict rules and norms. Providing any false information and/or document may lead to a penalty of five years inadmissibility along with probation of five year from applying for the PR Visa.

The program is fast tracked even as it is expected to take a maximum of six months to process the application from the date of submission. If an aspirant receives an invitation to submit an application, the claim for PR has to be made within two months. If an applicant has accepted an invitation to apply, but he fails to do the needful, he will get a second chance to submit an application under the same invitation to apply. Further, if the candidate somehow declines the invitation to apply, he will not be eligible for the next 12 months from the date of declining, for entering in express entry pool.

Although the Express Entry Program includes other economic programs, the Provincial Nominee Programs will continue to remain in operation outside the boundaries of the Express Entry program. At the same time, provincial government will be able to select a portion of the applicants from the Express Entry pool. Through the program, it is expected that at least 181,000 new immigrants will be attracted who will later contribute towards the national economy of the Maple Leaf Country.
