Canada Immigration Federal Skilled

Canada Immigration has yet given another surprise to the people waiting to migrate to the Maple leaf country with help of their skills and expertise. Gone are the days, when the applicants were forced to bear the nervous waiting times while the fate of requests hung in an uncertain balance of changing laws and capped occupational codes. Those were the days when I think atheists and non believers would also have started visiting places of religion and would have become believers in destiny and god; and most probably vowed to fulfill certain religious duties if they did not receive a rejection letter from the CIC, i.e. the judgment of Canada Immigration Citizenship department was held at a higher pedestal than the order of the almighty.

Express Entry needs to be applauded and acknowledged in every possible manner, for its incorporation helped Canadian authorities to do away with numerous flaws and problems that conventional system of processing had, like: annual number caps for a predefined occupations list; a limited time for filing the request as the number of slots per trade were limited, the CIC used to accept the requests only till the time, the allotted occupation specific slots were not occupied, and once maximum numbers were attained, the intake stopped without taking into account, the qualifications of the people filing the requests, etc.

The first come first service of the erstwhile Canada Federal Skilled Worker Immigration program, as it was termed, had a major technical flaw in its procedure and flow that hindered proper application of the policy. As a matter of fact, the program was tied to a predetermined flow of events, i.e. annual numbers cap per occupation; the officials opened the envelopes and matched the details and accepted the requests, irrespective of judging the suitability of the candidates. Now, when the total number of applications reached a predetermined mark, the requests arriving after that were simply rejected without even opening as the officials had directives about not entertaining the applications received either after the closure date or after the specific occupational code, under which the request had been filed, attained the maximum number of slots allocated for the program edition, for instance, a code defining 2132 - ICT engineers was allotted 300 places in year 2013 – 14. The code continued to accept the requests only until the annual numbers cap for this code were achieved. Any requests received after this were returned.

This aspect did not only have a negative impact on the chances of the would be immigrants, but it also adversely affected the Canadians; many a times, some of the requests taken in for assessment were found to be unsuitable on several grounds, and some got rejected at the last level of assessment (post assessment), the rejections reduced number of actually visas being granted as the authorities did not have any arrangement of backups to replace the rejected files. This eventually affected the efficiency of Canada Federal Skilled Immigration schemes.

The advent of Express Entry has helped Canadian authorities ensure one thing that now they can create a proper back up of the profiles from which the CIC official can select and short list appropriate candidates as per their convenience. This aspect has changed the face of Canada Federal Skilled Immigration program to a great extent. This has also brought about a much needed relief for the aspiring immigrants as they can now be assured of a fair chance of being able to stay in reckoning for the entry permission.

The new scheme is in fact a wonderful program, and it can spell success for the qualified people.
