Canada Express Entry Canada 2015—An Outline

The battle for drawing the finest skilled workers from across the globe has become rather stiff nowadays and none of the nations wants to lose in the battle. Perhaps, this is why most of the leading destinations have introduced new and path breaking immigration and visa systems to streamline the movement of qualified and talented workers to their territories. While Australia has launched SkillSelect, Canada has recently introduced Express Entry System.

What is Canada Express Entry Programme–is the question that prospective immigrants keep asking. Though a lot has already been written and said, a considerable percentage of the future immigrants still have doubts in their mind.

If you are lured by the charm of the Maple Leaf Country, and see it as a prospering destination for yourself and your family members and are also impressed by its majestic grandeur and exquisite lifestyle, then you need not to worry as the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has introduced a Express Entry system in the first week of January 2015.

By now, the programme has become completely functional and four draws have already taken place. Nearly 3000 applicants have already received an invitation to submit an application in just two months.

Following is the brief about the system.

Express Entry Canada 2015

On January 1, 2015, the CIC introduced a system formally known as ‘Express Entry’. Through the newly introduced system, the CIC aims to attract roughly 181,000 new immigrants in the year 2015 alone. To make the system successful an initial investment of $14 million will be made over the next two years only to be duly followed by $4.7 million investment every year. The system is not only the fastest but it also quickly responds to the specific growing economic and labor market needs.

How the system works?

Express Entry is an electronic system and especially developed to draw skilled workers to the overseas immigration hotspot. It manages the applications for the following existing federal economic programmes:
  • Federal Skilled Worker Programme (FSWP),
  • Federal Skilled Trades Programme (FSTP),
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Provinces and territories except Quebec and Nunavut will be able to nominate applicants for a certain portion under the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)
Applicants create an online profile and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Candidates who successfully meet the criteria of any of the aforementioned economic programme will be placed in the Express Entry Pool, and will be ranked against each other, on the basis of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Candidates who have high score will be issued an ‘invitation to apply’ (ITA). It means applicants have 60 days to claim Canada’s Permanent Residence (PR).

What is Comprehensive Ranking System?

It is the mechanism used for ranking Canada immigration-motivated applicants on the basis of their human capital, and is determined by various factors, such as education, experience, age, language ability. If the applicant has a job offer or a provincial/territorial nomination, he may score up to 12, 00 points.

Appearing for language test is mandatory

The CIC has made language test obligatory in any of the two national languages, i.e., English or French. The most common tests are CELPI and IELTS for English and TEF is for French. If a candidate fails to submit the language score, his application will not be processed further.

However acquiring a provincial/territorial nomination or Job offer from a Canadian employer is not compulsory. The possession of either of two will give you the extra value and help you score additional 600 points. Candidates, without a job offer or a provincial/territorial nomination, may register themselves with the Canada’s Job Bank.

What is Canada’s Job Bank?

It helps applicants to promote themselves. It connects employers with skilled workers. Employers on a look out for skilled workers register themselves with the Employment and Social Development Canada’s (ESDC) Job Bank, and advertise their requirements. Once they fail to fill the vacant position, they may extend the position to foreign trained workers, and once a suitable match is found, they may offer them a Job and apply for what is known as a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
