Are You One of General Skilled Immigrants & Keen in Australia Immigration? Get PR Permit!

Permanent Residents in Australia are those who possess Australian Resident Visa but are not the citizens of the nation. The primary applicant may live and work in Oz indefinitely. In the beginning, a visa is issued for a period of five years with the possibility of further extension.

It is no secret that since too long, skilled workers have been considered valuable for the ‘Land of Kangaroos’. The immigration hotspot is one of those few developed countries which considers immigrants as national assets and not a national burden.

Down Under is a country of skilled immigrants even as one-third of its total population consists of immigrants from round the globe. People from every corner of the world immigrate to the nation with the hope of better employment opportunities. A large number of them have an eye for the most wanted Permanent Residence (PR) status, rightfully so.

Australia Immigration PR Permit to General Skilled Immigrants

Though immigration to the nation is not a very difficult task for skilled immigrants, acquiring Australian PR permit might be quite a tedious task for them. Skilled immigrants may get the much desired Australian PR Visa through following pathways:

General Skilled Migration (SkillSelect): It is basically a point based programme under which PR Visa is given to the lucky few. First introduced in 2012, it is the most suitable immigration programme for trained workers. To process the visa application, you need to submit an ‘Invitation to apply’. It consists of electronic two stage process where applicants claim for skilled immigration, through submitting an ‘Expression of Interest’. Thereafter, eligible applicants may be invited to submit a visa application on the basis of their EOI. Candidates, who successfully score high on the point test, will stand a chance to get the much awaited and most wanted General Skilled Migration (SkillSelect) PR visa.

Skilled - Nominated or Sponsored Provisional Subclass 489 visa: It is a point based category and especially developed for skilled workers who have been duly nominated by either a state or territorial authority, or have been sponsored by a relative already residing in ‘Oz’. The visa’s validation period is four years, for that period the primary visa holder must live and work only in the specified regional area. Skilled workers are allowed to bring along their immediate family members to the immigration hotspot.

Important: The above stated visa category has now been replaced by the Skilled - Regional Sponsored Subclass 475 Visa and the Subclass 487 Visa.

Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189): It is a point based PR Visa and especially developed for applicants who have not been sponsored by a relative already residing in Down Under, an Australian Employer or a provincial or territorial authority. Otherwise eligible applicants may live and work in any part of the country. It permits the primary visa holder to remain in the nation for an indefinite period with full and easy access to work rights. Applicants may bring along their family members. They too are granted PR along with the primary skilled worker.

Important: The above stated category has been replaced by the Independent Subclass 175 Visa and the Subclass 885 Visa.

Skilled - Nominated (subclass 190) Visa: This is a point based PR visa and developed for those qualified employees who have been nominated by the Australian Employer or state or territorial authority. The primary visa holder along with his or her immediate family members can live and work in any part of the country. To process, you need to submit an ‘Expression of Interest’ via SkillSelect. You can submit an EOI either from inside or outside the country and if you stand eligible, you will receive an Invitation to Apply.

Important: The above stated category has been duly replaced by the Skilled - Sponsored Subclass 176 Visa and the Subclass 886 Visa.
